Somalia: Al-Shabaab head for health surrenders to Gov’t


Mogadishu(Gudgude)-Head of Al-Shabaab militant group for Health in Galgudud region has on Wednesday surrendered to the Somali National Army in Mahas town in Hiiraan, SONNA reported.

Col. Ahmed Mohamed Teredisho, Somali National Army in the region said the militant is named Nor Ibrahim Abdulahi and he has been in the group for the last 5 years. “Head of the terrorist militant group of Al-Shabaab for Health in Galgudud region, Nor Ibrahim Abdulahi surrendered to SNA here in Mahas town this morning, We are questioning him right now and We will send him to Beledweyne town for further investigation, the terrorists recruit young boys, he is the age of 19 and he joined the militants while he was 14,” Col. Teredisho said.

The Commander added the Somali National Army continue military operations in both Galgudud and Hiiraan regions in Central Somalia.

Al-Shabaab militants seem to have understood the reality and started to make use of Somali President, Mohamed Abdulahi Famajo’s amnesty two months earlier. Some key members from the group denounced the violence and accepted the peace process according to SONNA.
